Dark Western Blues

Clayton Wayne picked up a guitar at 21 and hasn't stopped playing since. While not classically trained like other musicians, he plays by ear and feeling, focusing on writing music that evokes emotion.
Born in New Orleans and moving to Kansas at a young age, the sounds of heavy metal, country, bluegrass, and blues all culminated to create his unique writing style. Clayton has always been labeled strange or odd — so incorporating that into his music was a must.
"Being honest isn't always easy, but it is always necessary." — Clayton Wayne
The slide tones of his resonator and the melancholic sound of his voice all come together to create a singular set of songs unlike anything else.
What started as a way to help himself heal has become something far bigger — a reflection of how the world makes us all feel. Sad, beautiful, and a little weird.
While in the past the name of the artist changed from time to time, the message of the music has always stayed consistent.
Music is always evolving.
Three years ago I lived in Lone Tree, Colorado and learned that the room I was staying in had been the site of a suicide. It resonated with me deeply — so I put myself in his shoes, because it felt like it could have happened to me.
▶ Listen on SoundCloudThis is an unreleased version of a song that was almost complete. It explores the heavier, darker roots of western and blues — with violin. Yes, violin, courtesy of the very talented Sage Cornelius, a great friend. Unreleased for a reason, but great nonetheless.
▶ Listen on DropboxNone at this time.
